If you have the desire to be fully isolated on your own private island, there is one for sale in Scotland for less than the price of an average house in the U.S.
A tiny island in the Firth of Clyde has been listed for sale for £350,000, or about $422,445, BBC News reported. The median price for a home in the U.S. in June was $427,696, according to Redfin.
The 28-acre Pladda Isles off the coast of Arran includes a five-bedroom house, a helipad and a lighthouse that dates back to the 1790s.
The lighthouse was automated in 1990, Metro reported.
The island is located in the deepest coastal waters in the U.K., according to the Evening Standard.
The island has had no one living in it for several years, so the home will need renovations done before it is livable again, BBC News reported.
Despite its condition, the lightkeeper’s home has two reception rooms, five bedrooms and a bathroom, according to the property listing. A separate building has a bedroom, shower room and kitchen that includes a sitting room.
There are also several outbuildings that have been used for storage, but could be developed; a former walled garden and more than six acres of grazing area, according to the Evening Standard and the property listing.
If you don’t have access to a helicopter, the island also has a sheltered, concrete jetty where a boat can dock and a boathouse.
